research continued

I have spent the last few days signing up to girl gamers forums and posting my questionairre link up, I have had a good response so far, mostly from american female gamers. But overall the responses i have had to the survey in general has been great, and some of the responses has given me pause for thought, and given me interesting angles to approach my research from.
I am aiming to have my initail research finished by mid march time, then i can write up my report on my findings and proceed to the pre production stage of my project.

questionairre

I have literally been sending out links to my questionairre all day, I have posted it to diferent university lecturers in the hope that they will pass the link on to interested females who migth want to particiapte, aswell as putting a link on face book, I have emailed the link to individual people aswell. The thing i am finding frustrating at the moment is that i am having real trouble trying to find a womens game forum that i can post my link on. I have lots of forums but they are mostly dominated by male players and wouldl be pointless me posting it up their. I am also thinking bout putting the link on a feminist site, so I have a wide variation of people doing the test, it will be intersting to get their opinions on it.
but that is what i have been doing today, sending the links out, i will continue to keep looking for a suitable site to post the link on, aswell as a feminist forum.

continued research

For the past week or so i have been looking into research about women in the games industry. I have found out some intersting things and it has given me several new angles on which to approach this topic which i didnt have before. But for the most part the research is best suited for my final dissertation that ill be doing at the end of my project. I have however found lots of emails and potential contacts to try and get in contact with who have research similer topics, so the best thing for me to do right now is to focus on getting my questionairres prepared so i can email them to people asap. im going to do this by settting up an account on an internet survey/questionairre site, which allows you to just email people the link for them to fill out the questionairre, and the site also tallies the results for you and you just download them when your ready. I intend to send the link to industry people, university lecturers in the hope of them passing it on to their female students, fellow female gamers who i know and posting the link on gaming forums.

research

iIrecently did my presentation for the tutors and other class mates outlining what I will be focusing on throughout my masters project. Before that over christmas time I had a lot of technical problems as my hard drive broke and needed to be replaced, resulting in me loosing a lot of my work, such as animation cycles etc that I had done over the past few months.
recently i have started to focus on gathering information about women in games, I have found a particualaly good site which is hosted by women in the games industry where they discuss current topics. they also host conventions once a year where anyone is allowed to listen to the debates about women in games, unfortunatly the price of this years event which is held in bradford is £125 for a day pass, and I cant afford that.
However on the website their are the presentations themselves from preivious conventions available to download, (the conventions have been taking place since 2004 to the present). so it gives me some really good contempery topics to look into, aswell as links and emails to people who could assist me further.
Their is also a message board I have joined that is part of the women in games website where people are free to discuss these issues, so it gives me an outlet to ask my own questions and get a more varied and academic response to some of my questions and concerns.
