final submission

I was having trouble uploading my animatic versions to blogger as the files are quite big and it was unable to load them. I then saved the versions along with the final animatic onto a disk which I submitted along with my sketchbook and evaluation.

This will be the last update for the first year of the masters, as I have already handed in my pre production work. I believe the design of the characters reflects the wishes of the female gamers who participated in my survey whilst still letting me be creative within the constraints of the survey results.
I believe I have created female game characters with more substance, Which will reflect the attributes that many female gamers say are missing in the majority of pre made female avatars today.

animation tutorials

During the course of the first year of the masters I have also been reading up on animation techniques and tips from various sources. These sources include animation books, online tutorials and dvd tutorials. I had done several brief animations but unfortunatly my laptop has had several viruses over the past few months and a lot of my saves have been wiped out. These however are some of my earlier attempts which I managed to retrieve. The tutorials I have been looking at will really help me when it comes time to animate my skit in the second year.

style experiment

This is a style ive been playing with. im not sure what type it is, but I came across it on an art site and used it to draw my villain. I shall draw my hero in this way also. The arms are quite skinny and the thighs are slightly bigger, which I find more interesting to look at.

With this storyboard I tried to work more on the fight scene. It may seem that the 3rd act of the skit is much longer then the previous two. But this is because I tried to make the fight scene as clear as I could at this point, and the thing to bear in mind is that the fight scene is going to go by really quick, and will most likely take around a minute to complete, where as act one and two will take rougly around 30 secs each to complete. (that is what I am aiming for at this stage)
Also the reason why the drawings are done in basic stick figures is because scenes can change and be dropped and switched around. So I didnt want to invest a lot of time making the drawings perfect untill it is okayed by my tutors.
The next stage after the storyboard is agreed upon is to do a animatic.

first rough storyboard

This is the first rough sketch I did of the storyboard, At this point I am just trying to figure out the basic movements. This should be read from top to bottom so it makes sense.
